MG Motor continues betting on talent and supports the Chilean female Colo Colo team

April 2021.- In line with the company’s global mission to promote a passion that goes beyond cars, this February, MG Motor announced a new milestone in its history sponsoring CONMEBOL Sudamericana. True to this sentiment, the brand announces that it maintains its support for local sports as the sponsor of the Chilean female Colo Colo team through 2021.

“It is a great experience to support such great and beloved football team as these, since you feel the triumphs and defeats up close, and we did not want to miss the opportunity to continue experiencing it with the Colo Colo female team, which has a great trajectory in Chile, a powerful character and a great projection,” says Hernán Delfino, Deputy Sales Director of SAIC Motor, manufacturer and owner of de MG Motor.

Colo Colo’s female team first played in the Chilean women’s football championship in 2008 and has achieved great triumphs since then, winning the 2012 Copa Libertadores Women, held in Brazil. They were also runners-up in 2011, 2015, and 2017. At the local stage, they have won 13 national championships winning 9 consecutive titles.

“As a brand, we are proud to be involved in this type of activity where there is female participation because we know how necessary it is for a truly integrated society, and we hope to continue contributing to this and other initiatives led by women,” concludes Delfino.

Passion all over the world

Whether with the European tradition or the Latin rhythm, football is present all over the world. Therefore, MG Motor continues to project its arrival to more parts of the planet through its models and its relationship with different football teams under the spirit of MG: “Always young, be passionate.”

Since 2019, the brand has been the global partner of Liverpool FC in England; in the Middle East, it is associated with the Saudi Arabian team, Al-Ahli. In South America, it was the main sponsor of Colo Colo’s shirt (between 2018 and 2020) and is currently the official sponsor of Sporting Cristal in Peru.
